In addition to Turkey, Syria was also struck by the deadly earthquakes that occurred yesterday. Rescue crews were present from the very beginning in the earthquake-stricken areas, and they are waging a superhuman battle to free citizens from the debris.ny
A team of rescuers was shocked to discover a newborn baby girl still alive, with her umbilical cord connected to her deceased mother. It appears that the woman gave birth while trapped, however, neither she nor the rest of her family managed to survive.

The little girl, who arrived at the clinic in critical condition, is still undergoing treatment but is now stable, according to pediatrician Hani Maarouf who spoke to AFP.
“She had a lot of bruises and lacerations all over her body,” he said. “She also arrived with hypothermia because of the harsh cold. We had to warm her up and administer calcium.”
Her survival is the latest in a series of stories of children being pulled from the rubble. The death toll from the earthquake, which devastated Syria and neighboring Turkey, soared above 5,000 by Tuesday and is expected to rise further.
Rescuers continue to search through rubble in freezing temperatures in search of survivors after the quake cut a swath of destruction that stretched hundreds of miles through the two countries.
