‘Hilarious’: Fans baffled by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson releasing a shampoo

A recent product release from Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has left fans scratching their heads – for one obvious reason.

A recent product release from Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has left fans scratching their heads.

Shoppers in the US have taken to social media to share photos of the 51-year-old’s new shampoo-conditioner on shelves at Target stores across the country, wondering if the action star is the right man for the job given that he’s … bald.

Johnson launched Papatui, a range of male personal care products, in March, telling GQ he was inspired to do so after “years” of people asking “me about my skin care”.

“I’m certainly no expert, but I’ve been lucky enough to have access to some of the best,” he told the publication.

Alongside products like facial cleanser, toner, moisturiser, eye gel, and deodorant, is the aforementioned shampoo-conditioner.

“What, you might ask, does Dwayne Johnson – a famous, bald, and famously bald guy – know about shampoo?” GQ wrote in its roundup of Papatui’s line, asking the question on everyone’s lips. “Quite a bit, it turns out, and your mane is all the better for it.”

It’s a sentiment that’s been echoed on social media, including by one TikTok user, who posted a clip of her and her boyfriend discovering the shampoo at Target.

“Boy, this man has no business in the shampoo department,” she said in the video, captioned: “If you ever felt like you weren’t meant for the job, take notes from The Rock.”

“And here is advertising Papatui. Do I trust The Rock to know what’s best for my hair?

“I am not promoting this product whatsoever. I just found this hilarious.”

Responding to the video, one woman agreed, commenting, “He has no business.”

Another woman, Sarah, who came across Johnson’s shampoo-conditioner shared a TikTok of her own reaction, asking: “What is happening?”

“I was just minding my own business, perusing the aisles of Target, when I happened upon Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s 2 in 1 shampoo,” she said.

She then zoomed in on the advert for the product, which describes it as “an expertly crafted plant derived formula that nourishes and strengthens your hair”, with a quote from Johnson declaring, “My hair would’ve loved this 2-in-1”.

“‘My hair would have loved this 2-in-1?’ Sarah repeated.

“I’m sorry – I’m not gonna buy shampoo and conditioner from a hairless man!”

In the comments of Sarah’s video, one jokingly wondered why The Rock “doesn’t … sell a scalp moisturiser or something”.

“‘My hair would have’ has me dead,” a second wrote.

“This is the funniest thing I’ve seen all week,” another commented.

“This is a great marketing strategy, it’s hilarious!” someone else wrote.

“Lol I have a bald head and it requires the same shampoo and conditioner as a head full of hair,” one person said.
