Ukrainian gunners demonstrated the operation of the M119A3 howitzers

Artillerymen of the 67th Mechanized Brigade published the first photos capturing the use of the M119A3 105mm light howitzers.

The press service of the 67th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published the pictures.

The howitzers were transferred by the United States as part of international military assistance. In general, the United States plans to transfer 72 artillery units of this type through the program.

Preparations for the transfer of these artillery systems started in the summer. However, footage of their active operation in the Armed Forces was only now released.

Ukraine received the most modern version of the М119 howitzer. However, the Digital Fire Control System, inertial navigation system, and ballistic computers were previously dismantled from them.

Such measures are presumably caused by the lack of an American combat control system of a tactical level in Ukraine into which these tools could be integrated.

Nevertheless, their functionality can be replaced by third-party Ukrainian software similar to the Kropyva command and control system.

It is known that Ukrainian artillerymen use American-made M927 105mm rocket-assisted projectiles for M119 howitzers.

Advanced American M927 105mm rocket-assisted projectiles are better than standard M1 rounds.

Their maximum range is 17 kilometers, which is about 40 to 50% more than the functionality of the earliest М1, which can destroy targets at distances of up to 11 to 12 kilometers.

The Ukrainian military will be able to use new weapons with a longer fire range and lethality without the need to modify the gun.

The M927 warhead contains 2.63 kg of explosives. The ammunition provides an up to 80% increase in lethality in the affected area compared to the standard M1 projectile.
