In a new interview on Shade 45, Eminem says “Stan” was an easy song to write because as a kid he was also a Stan for LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap.

Yesterday, Eminem joined an exclusive broadcast on his SiriusXM channel, Shade 45, from The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City for the premiere screening of his new documentary, titled “STANS.”

Hosted by D-Stroy and DJ Whoo Kid, the special event featured fan interaction and an exclusive conversation with Eminem and his longtime friend and manager Paul Rosenberg. The interview covered everything from the significance of Eminem’s 2000 classic song “Stan,” his first time meeting Dr. Dre, how he feels being referred to as a legend, and a deep dive into his legendary T-shirt collection featuring album covers, including his personal favorite.

“The fact that I made songs with Dr. Dre and LL Cool J, its f–king nuts to me because I looked up to these guys. As a kid they were everything to me. They were on my wall. That’s why Stan was such an easy song for me to write in a sense of knowing how I was going to to write about it because I was that kid how people were acting to me, I was that kid for LL Cool J, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane. These guys were on my wall and it was like f–king wallpaper in my room. So, to be in the room with Dre and LL and having conversations with them and being friends with them, that blows my mind.” says Eminem.

“I wear iconic album cover t-shirts on my shows because, I want my fans, especially youngers, to know who these people are and if they have not heard these albums, go back and listen to them, because it’s f–king gold and it’s what inspired me and made hip-hop brought it to the level that it’s at. Because rappers like Kane, Masta Ace, G Rap, Treach, Rakim, Nas, how much they pushed the pen to the level where it’s at.” Eminem added.
