Kylie Jenner wore a full dress with a lion’s head while Doja Cat covered her body with 30,000 crystals, competing for attention at the Schiaparelli show
Fashion brand Schiaparelli pursues a surrealist style. And the star guests attending the front row show were also supported by the fashion house to dress in strange styles. Living proof is the appearance of Kylie Jenner and Doja Cat at the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2023 show that just took place in Paris.
Doja Cat is like a fire, with 30,000 crystals stuck on her body
Female singer and rapper Doja Cat is famous for her strong personality and experimental dressing style. Last August, she shocked everyone by shaving off her hair and even her eyebrows on a livestream. Then she attended Paris fashion week with her body covered in gold paint. At that time, Doja Cat’s front row style was identical to the model at the Balenciaga show, randomly and completely unexpectedly.
But at the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2023 show, Doja Cat intentionally built an image to match the spirit of the show. That’s red body paint, the color of hell!
Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring Summer 2023 collection is inspired by the Inferno chapter in the Divine Comedy by medieval poet Dante Alighieri. Therefore, Doja Cat wore an all-red outfit as if depicting the fire of hell. The outfit includes a bustier made of red faille silk, a skirt made of red lacquered wooden beads, and trompe l’œil style boots with toes that simulate bare toes. Finally, 30,000 red Swarovski crystals were glued onto the body.

Makeup artist Pat McGrath, who was in charge of this look, revealed that he and his crew spent 4 hours and 58 minutes perfecting Doja Cat’s appearance. Most of that time was spent hand-gluing each crystal onto Doja Cat’s skin. The female singer had to wear a hair cap to cover her jagged hair, then had red paint painted all over her body, before being studded with crystals and covered with a layer of gold shimmer powder. The goal is to turn Doja Cat into a moving statue of art on the front row of Schiaparelli seats.
Kylie Jenner wears Schiaparelli’s latest haute couture design
It seems like Doja Cat is the star attracting the most attention in the front row of Schiaparelli, but with the appearance of Kylie Jenner, it’s unclear which cat will bite which one. The young millionaire was favored by creative director Daniel Roseberry to immediately wear a “hot” design. It was a strapless strapless dress with a fake lion head on one side. This design was performed by Russian supermodel Irina Shayk on the parallel runway floor.
The lion head comes from the three beasts mentioned in Dante’s poem Inferno ( the lion, the leopard and the wolf). These three fierce beasts represent three sins of humanity as the poet implies. But for Kylie Jenner, the lion represents her zodiac sign (she was born on August 10, 1997, under the sign of Leo).
This lion head is made entirely of fake materials such as foam, wool, silk, silk… but looks as lifelike as the real thing. With that material, the design is also light enough to not hinder the convenience of the wearer.
Kylie Jenner and Doja Cat compete for attention at the Schiaparelli show
As soon as both of these A-list stars appeared, the press and fashion world were excited. The image of Kylie Jenner and Doja Cat walking the red carpet, then sitting next to each other on the front row show Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2023, immediately spread throughout social networks.
Some videos show them treating each other coldly, only greeting each other half-heartedly, and not even taking photos together, causing netizens to think that the two do not like each other because they think the other is dominant. and stole all his glory.
However, among the two, Kylie Jenner received the most criticism from netizens. To be more precise, not only Kylie but also the Schiaparelli brand itself was criticized for recreating a lion’s head on the runway this season. Some opinions say that the expression is identical to the bragging way of hanging animal heads by hunters, looking horrifying and inhumane. Some other opinions believe that this action will unintentionally stimulate the wearing of fur fashion, even though Schiaparelli himself uses faux fur materials.
