A new mom described the unusual response she received after posting a video of her cradling her twin daughters online. Alexis LaRue, 22, went viral after posing with her seven-month-old twins, shocked by their size. Before pregnancy, Minneapolis–Saint Paul resident Alexis weighed 49 kilograms and was 5-foot-3-inch tall. Alexis weighed 82 kilograms at 38 weeks.
Alexis gave birth to twins Camila and Elena in March, weighing 6lb 7oz. Seven months old, they weigh a staggering 21 lbs each. Within seven months, twins tripled their birth weight. At almost seven months, the cute babies have tripled their birth weight to 21lbs each. Alexis said, “They seem to enjoy trying new foods. When I eat, they always look at me like they want to share. Alexis was thrilled to learn she was pregnant with her 23-year-old fiance Leo Mejia at 21. “Becoming a mother was my sole ambition in life, so I was ecstatic when it came true,” she said.
My first ultrasound at six weeks showed two small sacs. I was surprised and excited because our families never had twins. The stay-at-home mother said, “In the twin community, infants weighing 5 pounds or less are fairly typical. It’s funny because I uploaded that video without thinking. Reading the comments made me realize how big my kids were.” Astonished observers said, “Those are eight-year-olds” and “if they stood on top of each other, they’d be taller than you”. Alexis also denies manipulating her films or using a filter to make appear larger. She said, “I can see that the perspective of some of the films significantly exaggerates the size of the characters.”
I recently uploaded a video of me weighing and measuring the babies to show their size. I’m often accused of overfeeding them, even though infants are hard to overfeed. “They’re both in the upper percentiles for weight and height,” Alexis said. Due to their rapid growth, I buy them new clothes often. Camila and Elena are achieving all their goals and becoming the most popular twins on the video-sharing app. I want everyone to remember that all infants are unique, said Alexis. They all grow differently, but mine is fast.
