Since May 5, the trial of rap star Diddy (real name Sean Combs) has taken place in New York and attracted international media attention.

Diddy’s case is considered the sex crime that has shocked the entertainment world in the past 5 years. Diddy’s trial was not filmed according to federal court regulations, so the images in court are all illustrations.

Prosecutors said they interviewed more than 50 witnesses and collected evidence from 100 laptops, cellphones and other electronic devices. In addition, more than 190 celebrities are believed to have been involved in Diddy’s case. 

The court narrowed the jury pool to 43. The jury pool was made up of 12 people, eight men and four women. The judge dismissed Diddy’s claims of racial discrimination, saying the jurors were selected on a race-neutral basis.

Diddy’s six children, mother and sister were all present at the rapper’s trial. The rap mogul blew kisses to his mother and smiled as he looked at his children. 

Evidence released of Diddy beating his ex-girlfriend and forcing her to have sex 

Over the past week, information related to Diddy’s personal life has been revealed by witnesses in court. Details about wild parties at home, prostitution, secret filming, drug use and baby oil… were revealed by witnesses in court.

The jury also considered evidence of violence, including video of Diddy beating his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, and testimony from two other witnesses. 

The video recording the violent scene between Diddy and Cassie was recorded in 2016 at a hotel in California (USA). Hotel security guard Israel Florez also confirmed that Diddy beat Cassie.

This person said, Cassie kept telling him: “I just want to leave here”. Diddy is accused of bribing the security guard a sum of money to keep quiet.

Witness Daniel Phillip (41 years old) revealed that he was paid thousands of dollars between 2012 and 2014 to have sex with singer Cassie Ventura, while Diddy watched from a corner.

He admitted to hearing Cassie screaming as Diddy beat her in another room. During one beating, Cassie threw herself into Daniel Phillip’s arms, shaking and scared.

Daniel Phillip confessed that he did not dare to report to the police because he was afraid of retaliation from Diddy. 

During the victims’ detailed testimony, Diddy’s daughters stood up and left the courtroom. They returned later, leaving again during the detailed testimony about violence and sex. 

Prosecutors have accused Diddy of being violent towards his ex, and the singer’s lawyer has acknowledged this. Diddy’s legal representative said: “He was hot-tempered and violent when he was drinking or using drugs. He committed a crime of violence. However, that does not mean he committed a crime of extortion or sex trafficking.”

The lawyer emphasized that the video recording of Diddy beating Cassie is evidence of abuse, but not evidence of sex trafficking.

“He will be held accountable for what he did, but we will fight to free him for what he did not do,” added the female lawyer representing Diddy. 

In addition, Diddy’s lawyer also analyzed: “Diddy is a complicated man but this is not a complicated case. This case involves love, jealousy, adultery and money.”

Diddy’s response: “Everyone who testifies has a motive”

At the trial, three witnesses admitted to being victims of Diddy, including singer Cassie Ventura, a girl named Jane, and a female employee of the famous star. 

Cassie Ventura first met Diddy in 2006, when she was a 19-year-old model who wanted to be a singer. They started dating within a year of Cassie signing to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records. The couple was on and off until 2018. 

The girl named Jane revealed that she and the rap mogul started dating in 2020. Diddy promised Jane that when she attended the “Freak Offs” party, they would have a memorable time. However, according to Jane, Diddy forced her to take drugs and stay up for days.

Diddy and Jane got into a fight at her home. Jane tried to run out the door but Diddy grabbed her, choked her, lifted her up and threw her to the ground. That night, Diddy forced Jane to attend “Freak Offs”.

The third accuser is an employee of Diddy. This girl also admitted to being sexually assaulted at the famous star’s mansion. 

In response to the allegations from witnesses, Diddy’s attorney shared that the accusers, including singer Cassie, have all approached civil lawyers to demand money. The attorney emphasized: “Every witness has a motive.”

Amid allegations that Diddy used threats, violence, drugs and lies to coerce women into participating in wild sex parties, the singer’s attorneys asserted that the “Freak Offs” parties involved adults who acted voluntarily of their own free will. 

Diddy’s trial will determine whether the rap star is guilty of extortion and sex trafficking, according to Variety. If convicted, Diddy could face up to life in prison. 

Diddy was arrested in New York (USA) on September 16, 2024. Since then, hundreds of people claiming to be victims of Diddy, including both men and women, have spoken out and filed lawsuits against Diddy in court. Many of them confirmed that they were sexually abused as minors.

Before his legal troubles, Diddy was considered a famous American music star, the founder of Bad Boy Records in 1993 and contributed to making hip-hop music famous worldwide. Diddy won 3 Grammy Awards and had a great influence on world music.
