AHUREWA ECO RETREAT

This eco-friendly, ecological retreat is located in Coromandel, New Zealand. The house is located in the Mahakirau Forest Estate, which is a private enclosed area.

The owner of the house, Rosie, chose the shipping container house because of its durability. What makes this house most important is that it has solar energy and a rainwater collection line. The owner will therefore not see electricity and water bills.

The 65 square foot home was designed using 5 20ft shipping containers. The exterior of the house has been painted black to blend in with the natural environment. It should be enjoyable to enjoy the magnificent view from the deck area at the front of the house.

The interior of the house is more colorful than the exterior. There are plywood walls and orange details everywhere. One of the most striking features of the interior of the house is the use of large windows and the view that extends as far as the eye can see.

Another remarkable feature of the house is that there is a floor-to-ceiling bookcase inside, and even under the beds it is used as a storage space, since the owner is a reading lover.
